Course Information for Continuing Education
The Board of Certification requires that continuing education credits (CEC's)
be obtained in order to qualify for recertification as a CRA. If organizations
who offer courses on ophthalmic photography or related topics wish to make
CEC's available to registrants, an application must be submitted to the Board
of Certification.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REQUESTING CEC APPROVAL
- Submit verbal or written request for BOC CEC application and instruction
sheets or download application.
- Complete and return application, documentation and $30 application fee
at least 3 weeks before course date.
- Upon approval and course completion the course director will maintain
a summary of course evaluation sheets, a record of course participants,
and CEC's earned for three years.
- The $30 application fee should be made out to the OPS/Board of Certification.

SUBJECT APPROVAL
The following course subjects (upon completion of the course documentation)
usually qualify for review and 1:1 OPS CEC evaluation:
- Ophthalmic Photography Instruction & Workshops
- Photographic Techniques & Workshops
- Darkroom Processing Instruction & Workshops
- Ocular Anatomy & Ophthalmic Terminology & Ophthalmic Pharmacology
- Digital Photography & Digital Ophthalmic Workshops
- Computer Technology applied to Ophthalmic Photography
- Image and Data Management applied to Ophthalmic Photography
- Ocular Diseases & proper photographic documentation
- Descriptive terminology of Fluorescein and ICG Angiography
- OSHA & HIV workplace guidelines & precautions
- Other unlisted courses providing the attendee with a deeper understanding
of ophthalmic photography.
*Topics for courses which extend beyond those listed above, are certainly
with merit but may be considered on a less than 1:1 basis. Ophthalmic digital
imaging outside the scope of digital photography qualifies for review and
1:2 OPS CEC evaluation.

APPEALS
Continuing Education Credit evaluation appeals must be in writing and directed
to the Chair of Education Section of the BOC with a copy forwarded to the
Chair of the BOC. Appeals must be filed prior to the course completion
date.

COURSE EVALUATION FORM
The use of written course evaluations is required. Course Directors may design
their own forms and should include but are not limited to the following:
- Does the course meet my needs?
- The course was well organized?
- The effectiveness of the AV materials?
- The quality of the material I learned?
- The amount of student interaction with faculty?
- The quality of the instructor?
- The room and facilities?
- The effectiveness of the presentation?
- The length of the course?
- The level of the material I learned?
- The overall rating of this course

COURSE ATTENDANCE FORM
Course directors are required to give to each participant an "Evidence
of Attendance" form which states the number of OPS Continuing education
credits (C.E.C.s). Participants should be instructed to keep this form in
their files for submission to O.P.S. at the time of application for recertification.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF COURSE DIRECTOR
- Distribution of evidence of attendance forms to attendees, documenting
number of continuing education credit hours awarded.
- Must submit to BOC Education chair within 45 days a summary of student
evaluations.
- The course director must maintain a record of course attendees and CE
credit hours earned for three (3) years.
