So its your first time in San Francisco and the big question is: Should I ride the Cable Cars? ...and the answer is Most definitely!, Of course!, Absolutely!, Without question!, Don't miss it!, You've got to!....BUT, another form of transportation you should also enjoy -and I like this mode even more then the cable cars- is the F-line Vintage Street Cars. This is an historic fleet of street cars from the past and from all over the world. These are NOT reproductions! -they are restored orginals from place like Milan, Toronto, Zurich, HIroshima, Melbourne, Blackpool (England), Port (Portugal), Philly, LA, Brooklyn, Boston and yes, even Cleveland. The varied design and detail of these historic street cars is beautiful...its a treat to watch them tooling down Market Street and the Embarcadero, but don't miss a chance to hop on one and take a ride...even if you have no particular destination -just ride for while then hop one in opposite direction to come back. This is one of those "cheap thrills" you'll find all over the City-by-the-Bay. Learn more at the streetcar website and check out the photos on Flickr. And, if you're REALLY into it, they have a free-of-charge museum near the Ferry Plaza, open Tuesday -Sunday 10-6:00.
