Course Spotlight: The Future is Here: New OCT Technology You Will Be Using in Clinic Soon Lecturer: SriniVas Sadda, MD Date: Monday, October 20, 2014 @ 10:15AM
The human eye is the only organ that has a built-in window for visualizing -and imaging - its internal structures. With the advent of optical coherence tomography, virtual biopsies of the living retina have been made possible; this development has only served as the beginning of a variety of new imaging technology that is either just now or will soon come on the market and into our clinics. Soon-to-be-in-clinic imaging devices that utilize adaptive optics, swept-source, photoacoustic, polarization-sensitive, and functional OCT will be discussed. Upon completion of this course, students will have gained an understanding of new imaging technologies, the role they will play in revealing ocular disease, and in assessing the efficacy of future therapeutic treatments for retinal and choroidal disease.
