The 2016 Mid-Year Education Program is a wrap!
Attendees from across the USA made their way to the beautiful Fort Worth Botanic Gardens in Fort Worth, Texas, for a jam packed two-day educational program recently held on May 13th and 14th. The OPS Board of Certification also arranged and conducted the CRA live exam on May 15th at a nearby clinic to applicants pursuing their CRA certification.
The Educational Program moved along smoothly with lots of 30 minute lectures covering a variety of topics from ICG angiography, gonioscopy, external photography, clinical research imaging and trials, and also included a few 60 minute lectures on advanced therapeutic research, in vivo imaging and research, ultrasound, neuro-ophthalmology and our beloved Johnny Justice Jr. and his impromptu co-presenter Paula Morris with a lively lecture on the history of funduscopy and documenting retinal pathologies.
Attendees had their first glimpse at the new OCTA technology with two lectures given by Taylor Pannell, CRA, OCT-C that covered an introduction to the technology and a comprehensive look at OCTA with a variety of pathologies. Attendees were also able to test drive the Zeiss OCTA imaging system during break times and during our Vendor Forum. Ms. Pannell’s lectures and many other topics were well received by attendees with much audience participation and some very lively discussions.
I want to extend my appreciation to Dr. Mein for his Retinal Surgical Videos Keynote held on May 13th. If you haven’t had a opportunity to attend this lecture, make sure you add it to your TO DO list for the Annual Program. Thank you Dr. Mein!
Dr. Alan Kimura of Colorado Retina presented amazing content with his Saturday Keynote address on the role of stem cell research and it’s role in vision sparing research endeavors that have been investigated over the past decade with a glimpse of the pipeline that is deep with promising treatments.
We also had many first time OPS lecutrers like Sai Chavala, MD, Keri Kilgo, Sunil Patel, MD, Gary Rickert, Brenda Nakoski, Kristen Barnaby, Wendy Martin and Eileen Birch, PhD, and I want to thank them for taking the plunge in our Program.
Our incredible sponsors contribute so much to the success of our program by dedicating funds, dynamic personnel, and equipment at our meetings which provides hand-on opportunities for attendees to learn more about ophthalmic imaging from the best around. THANK YOU again to our sponsors for the 2016 Mid-Year Educational Program: Carl Zeiss Meditec, Fundus Photo, Heidelberg Engineering, Optovue, Topcon, Visunex, Quantel Medical, Nidek and Optos!
On behalf of the OPS Board of Education, we thank you all for attending and contributing to the Mid-Year Educational Program. As a reminder, lecturers and attendees wanting CEC credits will need to complete the course surveys before the June 30, 2016 DEADLINE (No extensions will be given). Lecturers wanting CEC’s for their lecture will need to use a different survey link. Please contact Barbara McCalley if you need any assistance with this. THANK YOU!!!!!!
