We are considering purchasing a confocal microscope for evaluating the layers of the cornea. I know that Heidelberg has a module to adapt the HRT into a confocal and that Nidek has the ConfoScan. Are there any other companies that have this technology?

Thanks!

Sarah

Is the Heidelberg Module you're referencing the Anterior Segment Module? If so, it's pretty neat for capturing IOL's too. And heavy cataracts.

So...9 years later...what are folks using for corneal confocal microscopy now that the HRT/RCM is End of Life and no longer available for sale?

This raises challenges as there is also no support. In institutions where annual laser maintenance is mandatory...this bricks the device even if it's operational.

My google skills have yet to uncover a currently available alternate device? Is this technology dead or am i missing something (hopefully the later)?

Thanks!

j-

I hadn't heard anything about the HRT3 being end of life, we're using it still at the Moran but it's the only device we have that provides that kind of imaging. I can't find anything else out there either, I knew it was a unique data set after getting to know it, but this is going to have a negative impact on both research and patient care if it's not available.
