Gary,

Told to us by Heidelberg:

- Power down the laser box every night. Prolongs the life of the SLD.
- Ok to leave the computer on but exit out of the Hey Ex software every night. Others can access the Heidelberg database via remotes with the computer on.

Hope this helps,
bob

A big reason to shutdown the computer at night: updates.

We have a b-scan device connected to a Windows 8.1 computer, it had been having issues recognizing the USB b-scan device on a fairly regular basis. The Doctors and Assistants couldn't figure out why it was having issues and eventually they'd ask me to take a look at it... Without fail, every time there was an issue with it recognizing the USB device it needed to do a restart to get it working again.

Updates will frequently make changes to the BIOS, for those changes to take effect the computer needs to be restarted. Electronics also run their life out by being left on, turn them off and they'll generally last longer.
