Just was wondering if everyone could tell me who is responsible for uploading study images at your site? Does the study coordinator upload the images or do you as the photographer responsible for uploading all the images?

I currently work at a high volume University/Hospital setting and we never seem to have the time to upload to the reading centers in time due to our busy clinic schedules.

I have heard that some practices have a study coordinator come in and download the images to a usb drive and upload themselves.

What is your experience?

The photographers upload the study images at our clinic. There are 3 photographers tasked with that responsibility. Wanted to keep this number small to minimize errors. We also upload the images daily to avoid any backlog.

Hope this helps,
bob

We have 5 imagers, not everyone certified for every study, but we all carry an even load. We upload the images we take, and try to do so on the same day as the encounter. Not necessarily daily as I don't think we have the volume that bob has a Joslin. We usually have about 15 studies that require imaging going at any given time. We usually submit from the instruments and so are aware of the current work load/patient waiting situation is rather than having someone else come and sit on the instrument, and possibly have to be bumped off to accommodate patient load.

There is an agreement amongst the imagers that we cover for someone while they are submitting to reading centers. It is a very manageable arrangement. Sometimes we don't hit same day, and let's face it, SOME reading centers are months behind in communications/feedback, but our experience has been that it is best for the imager to do the submissions - ownership for getting the best images and getting them submitted.

Just another scenario,
Paula

We have 3 imagers in OCT, and 2 imagers in FP/FA. Whomever performs the image capturing is responsible for getting the images to the reading center of it's designation. Sometimes it needs to happen in the same day, other times, within 1 week. We are currently involved in 4 national studies, and a 5th about to begin.

We have a lecturer specifically dealing with Photographer Certification for National Reading Centers speaking for us at the 46th Annual Education Program in Las Vegas this November 2015, and I'm sure this issue will be discussed during her presentation.

Brandon,

We are currently running 15-20 studies right now, can't remember exactly how many, and I upload all of the images for them. I like to know that it is done and done right. Not that my OCT imager couldn't upload, but if there is a problem or images didn't get uploaded in a timely fashion, I know who to blame. I am the Director of Imaging for my practice and I just can't seem to delegate that without anxiety. There are some nights that I am kicking myself because everyone else is gone and I am still here uploading images. As a matter of fact, I'm here by myself now still uploading images. :-)
