After almost 5 years in ophthalmic imaging, I've decided to actively pursue certification. Yay!

I'm looking to the community for some assistance with regards to recommended study materials, what to brush up on, any general advice from you established CRAs out there. I'm hoping to be able to have everything done in order to take my performance exam this November in Vegas, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to joining your ranks as a CRA!

Thanks a bunch,

Matt,

In the CRA guide, there's a page or two that details exactly what' s on the test. I suggest that you break it out into sections and set up a study plan based on that information so that it is manageable and not overwhelming.

The BOC also offers mentors that can help you with your study methods if you'd like some one on one advice.

Good luck!

Sarah

Matt,

Like Sarah said, we have a listed of suggested study material in the CRA program guide and the exact breakdown of what subjects are on the test. You can also email advisor@opsweb.org and Bill Fischer the Advisor chair can hook you up with an advisor. Also, you could do a lot worse than having Denice mentor you. I took a class that she was one of the teachers about 21 years ago and it was very profitable.

Speaking of the CRA, I'm having trouble with one of the fundus photos, in particular in an eye with dilation <3mm.

We're shooting on a Topcon TRC-50x, the best results I've obtained thus far have been using 20* with pupil setting to narrow, and flash set to 50wps (watts per second). We're using a digital sensor for capture and OphthaVision 3.0 for the capture software.

The best result we've seen shows the optic disc and blood vessels branching out either superior or inferior, but nothing much more beyond that.

Any suggestions?
