My name is Armando. I work at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Naples, FL. I have an issue with one of our cameras, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience. We have a non-mydriatic camera, a Nidek AFC-230. I always have to start it and the lap top it is connected to, at least two to three times, before it will allow me to capture an image. Has anyone experienced this before? Could anyone point me in the right direction? Once the camera is finally started it works great. But there is always an issue upon start up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes, my computer opens an application faster than the components needed for that program. Try just shutting down the program and opening it again, without restarting the computer. That may work.
I do not have a Nidek, so it is just a suggestion.
Libba

Armando

I have not used Nidek AFC-230 before, but my guess this is a USB power issue

Windows OS if left idle for some time; it moves to a lower power state (power saver mode) thus far it moves some USB ports to a lower voltage setting.

What you can do is to go to control panel => power options => select High performance

Or

From your power plan click change plan setting => change advanced power settings

Look for SLEEP => Sleep after then select NEVER

Look for USB Settings => USB Selective suspend setting => select DISABLED
