Hi all,

Between the Zeiss Visucam and the Topcon TRC lines of fundus cameras, which do you think is better for pediatric patients (ages 3-15)? Are there particular capabilities or design issues that would make one brand particularly better than the other for that demographic?

Thanks,

I work at a paediatric centre and for fundus photos, we perform over 1300 patient fundus photo sessions on kids a year.

Off the top of my head, some features to look for in a camera is:
-Non Mydriatric
-a camera with swings and tilts ( for those kids with eccentric fixation)
-internal fixation
-monochromatic, FAF, IVFA,
does the chinrest rise to accommodate a small face/ head? Chin to eye distance. ( ie our OCT does not rise high enough for the really tiny 3 y. olds.)

Feel free to contact me off list about camera specifics.
cynthia.vandenhoven@gmail.com
