Hi Gang,

Our clinic recently acquired a camera with OCT-A. How are you billing for this procedure? We want to use the proper code, but this seems like a tricky one, along the line of the Multi-Color scans for the Heidelberg. Thanks in advance.

Jill,

I am not a billing expert but I believe that you can only bill an OCT. We are not doing anything other than an OCT when we do OCTA, but there are different software algorithms that are analyzing the data differently.

Currently there is no separate code for OCT-A. You use the same coding for traditional OCT.

Here is an article from Retinal Physician that discusses:

http://www.retinalphysician.com/issues/2016/october-2016/cpt-coding-for-oct-angiography
