I was looking at the stereo print upload screen today (note, at this time it's still saying the upload is for the 2019 program's stereo competition, not the 2020 program's stereo competition).

I had a realization, if the stereo images are being judged in digital form, why not judge all the images in that form, then only the images that will be displayed need to be printed. This could encourage a significant amount of people to be more inclined to participate.

A follow up could also be for the winning digital submissions to, for a small fee, be printed by the committee through a group like VistaPrint, CanvasPeople, shutterfly, mpix, or one of a dozen other groups. The files then are submitted, and ordered in a predetermined size.

In theory, submissions could include the fee, which would then cover printing, any non-printed submissions could either be credited toward other regularly seen fees such as: membership, event attendance, webinar(s), calendar, tshirt, raffle tickets, etc.

This could encourage broader participation where international shipping fees and time might be otherwise restrictive, enable sooner judging of images by removing the need for shipping for the images to be judged, as well as provide the digital files needed for later use in publication without needing to go through and scan any prints.

Thanks, Paul, for letting me know that I forgot to update the stereo upload page on the website for the 2020 photo competition. I just did the update so it now shows the 2020 information.

I will let the SEC committee address the comments about uploading all images for both the print and stereo competitions.
Barbara McCalley
