Hello all! I hope you are well during these difficult times! My question for the minds today is, If you could purchase any Mydriatic Fundus camera out there, which one do you feel is highest quality and why? I am talking about a top of the line fundus camera. With so much talk in our office of Ultra Wide Field, I find our old Topcon is falling apart with no notice. I would like to convince my doctors to invest back into a new camera. Thanks!

I'm presuming you're considering a true color fundus? UWF has its benefits, with Optos and their pseudo color I'm not sold on the field of view they're selling, it's awful close to the UWF lens from Heidelberg, even though they're significantly different in reported fields of view. Though, Heidelberg doesn't offer pseudo color in their UWF family, just the 55degree (MKII or greater) and 30 degree lenses.

I've enjoyed the feel of our Canon fundus, it's technically wide field, but doesn't have a mechanical magnification change function, just a crop zoom. I bring that up because if there's only one camera for certifying imagers as Certified Retinal Angiographers, then the functionality of the fundus camera needs to meet the needs of the portfolio requirements: IF: it needs to be a sole certifying device, and IF the physicians intend to in-house certify imagers. If they want CRA's but are fine with only bringing them in from outside the clinic, or if they're not particular about having CRA's, then those minutiae don't really matter.

I am looking for something most similar to a zeiss ff450 or a topcon trcx - something with sing and tilt, why does it seem like thats not a default anymore having those movements?? Anyways, it has to be true color imaging so NO heidelberg No optos.

I like my new Clarus 700. It takes beautiful true color and FA images and is most like a "regular" fundus camera. We also have a Topcon 50DX that is okay. Zeiss doesn't make the FF450 anymore but I think that Topcon still sells the 50DX. I really like Ovision capture software if you don't mind getting the actual camera only and then digitizing it.
