Zeiss Cirrus 6.0 Software

We just upgraded to the Cirrus 6.0 software. Wondering if anyone has the same and what little gems you've discovered along the way.

My initial review is positive. I like the addition of the ganglion cell layer analysis. I've used it on some of our MS patients and it shows clearly a LOT of loss in most cases. Haven't done much with the RPE analysis yet, but hoping to do so soon.

In addition to the new analysis options, there are several minor changes made in the form and function of the software as well. This is where I was hoping to find other 6.0 users that have discovered some ot these caveats along the way.

Cirrus 6.0 Changes

I am finding little 'nuggets' of subtle changes that are making the operation easier.

For example, when you go to look for a patient's name, you no longer have to actually click on the SEARCH button to start the search process. Just type in the name, hit ENTER on the keyboard and the search is done!

I also notice the algorithm lines are no longer automatically placed onto the scan. I never liked that auto function because I didn't want them hiding any membranes. Always had to remove them myself, now I don't have to. nice!

They have also replaced the 5 line raster scan with a HD 5 line raster.

Just to mention a few....

Gary,

These are great insights! The first one alone makes it all woth it for me. I'm "keyboard guy" and hate using the mouse, takes too much time. This feature will make that faster.

Also good to know about the placement of the "lines", never liked those.

Question about the 5 Line Raster being replaced by the HD Raster. Does the scan/analysis take longer? They both do now in my version.

Thanks,

I am a keyboard guy too, Bob. The machine does seem to work a tad bit slower when you first use it. Some may find it to be a downside, but it doesn't bother me because it is just a little bit slower. Haven't picked up on if the actual scans take longer.

As for those lines... they DO automatically appear when you're getting a mac change analysis.. but not when you do the single mac thicknessanalysis.

AND I also see there is a little box to click on that switches the images from color to black and white.

Yes Lori, that was a wonderful discovery, eliminating all the mousework needed to do the same thing.

Note sure if it's happened to others out there, but we did occasionally run into issues once we wanted to change the image back to color. So far, the v6 software has not had that same issue.

Thanks for the great tip!
