We are looking into a simple, inexpensive, HIPAA compliant way to share our freelance angiography images with our clients. Does anything exist?

Alternatively, do any of you use a cloud storage service that allows individual permissions, and meets Hipaa guidelines?

I am trying to think as broadly as possible about this. We shoot photos at about 20 practices, and we want to figure out a cost-effective way to make the images available to each client.

Hi Marty,

The ASRS has the new Retinal Image Bank, located here: http://imagebank.asrs.org/contact

As long as the images are masked from patient identifiers, you can upload and share with colleagues, or the world, as much as you please. Also, other colleagues interested in diseases of the retina, can search in this image bank by a simple search for a diagnosis.

If you would like your clients to search under your prospective work, then just create a profile that starts with 'Angiographics', and your searchers will be directed to your company's work.

If you need additional information, contact me off list, and glad you asked here first on the OPS members forum!

Regards to all!

Hi Marty,

Just to be clear, I assume you are looking for a way to securely deliver patient photos to the ordering physician, without jeopardizing the security of PHI. Very good question.

I'm wondering if DropBox (or some other Cloud storage utility) would work for your purposes. I use it occasionally to share images & other files but haven't been concerned too much about security (at least not to the level of HIPAA protected PHI).

Take a look here & scroll down to the section on security. I'm really interested to see what you end up with, so check in when you've found a solution.

Good luck,

You might want to contact these folks to see if their product might be feasible. It is designed for medical image sharing so it should incorporate all the security and features mandated by HIPAA.

http://www.lifeimage.com/

I haven't used the product but knew one of the principals of the Co. from my time in Boston.

When his LinkedIn acct tweeted the product launch i investigated it because i thought it might have applications in ophthalmology.

They're local to you, so that a plus!

Let us know what sort of solutions you run across.
