So, of those who submitted this year, or have submitted to OPS Scientific Exhibit, or have an opinion: why do you choose the/a paper surface for your bio-medical images? Explain please your reasoning behind glossy, matte etc? I am just very curious. So much work goes into these images I know this should shed some light on what I find a curious subject.

For scientific imaging where you want to see the best detail I usually prefer glossy to semi-gloss surfaces. I like the Epson Exhibition Fiber paper since it's a semi-gloss and so is not as reflective with the gallery lighting. For other exhibition work I prefer the high resolution fine art papers such as Epson Hot press or Ultra Premium Fine art papers, which are a smooth surface matte paper.

Thanks for your input Richard.

For what ever it is worth, I have noticed this year that the Canon paper does not hold black. The pigment rubs off during mounting. It may not be noticable on the print themselves but it will rub off onto other surface etc.

One very important point is that some newer digital papers bleed or loose pigment. In mounting the OPS exhibit this year I have come across several Canon papers that loose way too much black pigment. I wonder how they will last over time?
