I received the following inquiry today. After checking the Gonio Photography page on the OPS website, I didn't see any recommendations, so I will post the inquiry here.

"Is there a recommendation for a specific lens when taking gonio photos? Our clinic is looking to replace our gonio photography lens, and we are looking for recommendations."

If anyone has recommendations, I will be happy to pass those along.

Thanks for your assistance in advance!

Hi Barb,

Very rare to shoot a gonio image, but when I do, I use a three mirrored universal diagnostic lens from Ocular Instruments.

Gonio-Photography is a rarity for us too but we probably once every other month or so.

We also use a 3-mirror lens. Our's is from Haag-Streit.

One additional piece of advice. We keep this lens dedicated for gonio imaging only. These lenses scratch fairly easily with regular use and these scratches will definitely degrade your images.

Good luck and good hunting,

bob

We shoot gonio every week, mostly on ocular tumor patients, and occasionally on pigment dispersion syndrome patients. We use a Goldmann 3-mirror gonio lens and I believe I bought it from Lombart Instruments. Bob is right on point: buy it and keep it strictly for imaging -I've had mine for 9 years. Little know fact: you can use it to perform Gonio-angiograms. We use our Zeiss fundus camera as the capture device, apply the gonio lens, inject the dye and shoot....beautiful imagery. Good luck!
