Any thoughts?

I am considering a change from my Topcon 50X circa '97 and I am having an internal debate about the Topcon 50EX v. the Topcon 50DX. We are very interested in doing FAF imaging with whichever we choose. I thought I caught something on a recent thread re: the fact that the new Topcon 50DX has some power/flash deficiencies?

Also, I found out recently that Topcon had a little snafu with the FDA and had not been allowed to sell the new DX cameras for a few years up until recently.

The Topcon 50EX I am considering is a camera from the latest hardware/ firmware upgrades, very gently used, cleaned and refurbished...

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,
I have used both of them. I found the dial for the viewing light of the 50DX was hard to adjust the light. If you turn up one notch, it is to bright for some patients, if you turn down on notch, it is too dark for you to see. I would like to see a half of a notch, but the dial does not allow you to do so. So, I like the slide on the 50EX better. That's just me.
As for which camera is better, I would say they are about the same. Which ever you choose, it will be better than the 50X.

Good luck making decisions.

Hoang
