The OPS is excited to offer our first series of Webinars!  These courses will only be available during the date/time listed below.  To register, click on the name of the course you want to take and follow the instructions.  The price of each hour is $25 for OPS members and $30 for non-members. Credits will be awarded after a quiz on the material in the lecture has been successfully completed.  Please note that the two 30 minute courses on 9/17 will be charged as 1 course.  If you wish to only attend one of the courses that night, payment is still required for the entire hour.

High Resolution Retinal Imaging in Patients with Retinal Dystrophies

Retinal dystrophies encompass a wide spectrum of diseases often defined electrophysiologically by their unique properties of neurosensory function. ERG and EOG testing has long been the gold standard diagnostic test in these cases. Uses of newer technologies such as high resolution OCT, fundus autofluoresence and adaptive optics imaging for retinal dystrophy will be discussed. Upon completion of this course the student should be able to elaborate on SD OCT and FAF as diagnostic imaging applications in patients with retinal dystrophies. Students should also be able to outline the function and role of adaptive optics in these cases.  CEC:  OPS 1, JCAHPO-A 1

Fundus Autofluorescence Imaging

Fundus Autofluorescence Imaging (FAF) is a specialized form of fundus photography that documents naturally occurring fluorophores in the human eye. The crystalline lens, optic disc drusen, hammartomas and lipofuscin pigments in the RPE all possess fluorescent properties that can be captured with a fundus camera or scanning laser ophthalmoscope equipped for autofluorescent imaging. This course will present an overview of the uses, equipment and techniques for fundus autofluorescence.   CEC:  OPS 1, JCAHPO-A 1

Slit Lamp Biomicrography and Goniography for Anterior Segment Oncology

This course will cover various types of lighting techniques used in Slit Lamp Biomicrography. Techniques of goniography and applications for imaging of lesions in the anterior chamber will be discussed using case studies. Applications for external imaging in an oncology setting will also be discussed. After this course attendees will be able to name several lighting techniques used in slit lamp imaging and describe how to set up the camera and lens to perform goniography. The student should also be able to discuss slit lamp biomicrography vs. goniography in the oncology setting.  CEC:  OPS 1, JCAHPO-A 1

Imaging with iPhone

This course will discuss the different techniques available to capture ophthalmic images with an iPhone. Artifacts, imaging tips, and a review of imaging with different lighting techniques will be covered. By the end of this course, attendees will also be able to discuss the advantages and disadvantages between manually holding an iPhone for imaging and using both homemade or commercially available adapters.  CEC:  OPS .5, JCAHPO-A .5

Enhanced Depth Imaging of the Choroid

Enhanced Depth Imaging Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography ( EDI-OCT) is a new imaging modality to enable high resolution OCT imaging of external retinal layers, the choroid and lamina cribosa. It allows detection of structural changes beyond the RPE. Applications for this new imaging modality on small choroidal tumors, choroidal nevi and other select choroidal entities will be discussed. Techniques for improved imaging will be reviewed. Upon completion of this presentation the student should have an increased understanding of the term "EDI-OCT” and the proper applications. The student should be able to recognize EDI type scanning using case studies and have a reasonable understanding of the findings.  CEC:  OPS .5, JCAHPO-A .5
