Scientific Exhibit Committee looking for Volunteers

The OPS Scientific Exhibit Committee is looking for new members and a new Chair.

The Committee is responsible for producing the OPS Scientific Exhibit displayed at the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting.  The various components for production of the exhibit are listed below, and are coordinated by the Exhibit Committee Chair.  If you are interested in becoming a participant of this highly visible project, please contact Tim Steffens at:

The exhibit has been maintained by a devoted committee whose responsibilities include:

  • filing the exhibit paper work with the AAO
  • producing the OPS Call for Entries which is sent to each OPS member
  • defining the entry categories in keeping with changes in imaging technology
  • maintaining a system for tracking entries in both the Stereo and Print Divisions
  • conducting judging sessions with the judges comprised of Ophthalmic Photographers and Ophthalmologists to select winning entries, usually with a First Place through Honorable Mention possible in each of the currently 22 categories
  • preparing the winning stereo images for digital display
  • ordering Gatorfoam boards based on the number of prints to be mounted
  • mounting and labeling the winning prints with a standardized display format
  • producing a Power Point presentation of winning entries for the OPS reception
  • shipping the physical exhibit structure to the AAO exhibit hall
  • recruiting OPS members to host the exhibit during AAO exhibit hall hours
  • setting up and maintaining the exhibit throughout the trade show
  • disassembling and packing the exhibit
  • shipping the exhibit out for storage
  • scan the winning entries and send them to The Journal of Ophthalmic Photography
  • returning the previous year's entries when requested
