2016 Annual Program Wrap-up
Share |

This year’s annual program in Chicago was a meeting not to be missed. For those seasoned and new members, new educational content was offered. In fact, half of all lectures, 30 in total, were brand new, showing that this meeting strove to enhance our members' knowledge and skill set so that we can stand above the crowd.

New topics ranged from The role of imaging in ocular oncology by the infamous Dr. Carol Shields to the fascinating reasons why various mammalian and reptilian ocular systems are the way they are. OCT - Angiography lectures and hands-on were both offered allowing us an early look at this emerging technology. Other diagnostic imaging and technical skills were offered beyond traditional fundus and OCT imaging included Microperimetry, ERG, UBM and ultrasonography.

The Imaging crash course was back introducing a new crop of learners the ins and outs of ophthalmic imaging.

Thirteen new certificants successfully achieved their CRA certification put on by the dedicated members of the Board of Certification.

Dr Anita Agarwal gave us a comedic and intimate inside view of the pursuits of her mentor, Dr. Donald Gass with her lecture J. Donald M. Gass- His Observations & The Lessons We Have Learnt. She was introduced by our friend and early founder Johnny Justice. Meeting up with old and new friends was a highlight of this meeting.

Our evening reception was a grand time. A beloved and much missed FOPS, Pat Saine came to visit and reminisce with many of us of the glory days of old. We hope that you enjoyed the meeting as much as we enjoyed orchestrating this annual event.
