The 2020 OPS Mid-Year Educational Program is being held at the National Eye Institute, Bethesda, Maryland May 15-16, 2020.

This year‘s program will provide two full days of thought-provoking, research-themed education, including topics such as Basic Human Genetics for Ophthalmic Medical Personnel, Genetic and Rare Diseases that Affect the Eye, Adaptive Optics: An Advanced Optical Imaging Technique, Clinical Research Imaging in Ocular Oncology and Autologous Cell Therapy for Age-Related Macular Degeneration. The program’s faculty is comprised of leading physician experts and eye imaging specialists in clinical research in ophthalmology. Two accredited Vendor Forums are also scheduled, which will enhance your practical knowledge and provide opportunities to gain hands-on experience.

Our keynote speaker, Catherine Cukras, M.D., PhD., is a retinal specialist and noted ophthalmic clinical research scholar at the National Eye Institute.  She heads the Unit on Clinical Investigation of Retinal Disease at the NEI.  Her work is focused on inherited retinal degenerations, a family of blinding eye diseases which currently lack therapy, with an aim to elucidate the processes underlying photoreceptor degeneration, towards the goal of the development of new treatments.
