Clinical Trial Imaging Certification Program

Dear OPS Member,

As you are probably aware, EyeKor, Inc. announced during the AAO conference that they will collaborate with the Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society (OPS) to develop a Clinical Trial Imaging Certification Program for OPS members who are Certified Retinal Angiographers or Certified Optical Coherence Tomographers.  This program aims to accelerate the startup process of pharmaceutical-sponsored ophthalmic clinical trials within the EXCELSIOR platform, as well as provides ongoing support for those trials in terms of the necessary imaging certification requirements.

Benefits to You

As a Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA) or a Certified Optical Tomographer (OCT-C), you have demonstrated to your peers and employers that you have attained a high level of skill and expertise in these technologies.  With this additional clinical trial imaging certification, you have demonstrated that you can provide the high level of image quality that is demanded for clinical trial participation.  Obtaining this certification may not automatically qualify you for all procedures on a specific study, but will provide a documented baseline of your imaging capabilities and may reduce the number of images needed to obtain certification for a specific study.  This clinical trial imaging certification can be transferred with your user account should you choose to seek other professional positions within the ophthalmic community.

Certification Costs

This additional certification is voluntary and no additional costs are payable by the applicant.  There is no requirement by the OPS for participation in this additional certification program.

How to Become Clinical Trial Certified

Applicants wishing to become clinical trial certified by EyeKor should submit image portfolios corresponding to the desired modality certification type (CRA or OCT-C) to EyeKor (the portfolio that was submitted to the OPS for their OPS certification may be used for this purpose).  Image portfolios must be submitted using the EyeKor EXCELSIOR platform.  EyeKor will provide the applicant access to the clinical trial imaging certification submission portal within EXCELSIOR upon request.  For requests to access EXCELSIOR, contact .Upon approval, applicants will be notified by EyeKor of their Certification status within the EyeKor EXCELSIOR platform.
