Description

Accurately recognizing and documenting an abnormal pupil response is extremely important, especially if you will be dilating a patient prior to leaving the room. While changes in pupil size within the clinic are often the result of a direct stimulus, there is a possibility that it could also be an indicator of a bigger problem. This course will explain how to perform and document a proper pupil examination.  Examples of common pupillary defects will be shown.  At the end of the course the attendee will be able to identify and document an APD, differentiate between an anatomic pupil anomaly and an abnormal pupil reaction.  Also the role of the pupil in accommodation and recognizing common diagnoses that could cause changed in pupil size shape and reaction.
